Spanish in Latin America

The City:

  • Costa Rica is located in Central America, bordering with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south-southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.
  • Just a short distance from the capital San Jose, the lush and gorgeous province of Heredia is one of the most beautiful in Costa Rica, known for its verdant hills and volcanic national parks. This region also has dense tropical forests, stunning waterfalls and roaring rivers.

The School

Our partner school in Heredia is situated in a spectacular building in San Joaquín de Flores, a town with a population of around 10.000 people, 15 minutes by bus from the Juan de Santamaría International Airport and the city of Heredia.

Spanish Courses in Heredia

  • Intensive group course: 20 group classes per week
  • Super-intensive group course: 25 group classes per week
  • One on One course: 20 classes per week
  • Volunteer programme: a minimum of 4-week Spanish course is required to be eligible for the volunteer programme.

Timetable

Classes are held from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:00 with a 20-minute coffee break at 10:00. In the Super-intensive courses classes start at 8:00 am and finish at 2:30 pm with a coffee break at 10:00 and a one-hour break at 12:00

Teachers

All teachers are university graduates and have been well trained in the teaching of Spanish to foreigners.

Accommodation

In order to help you improve your Spanish speaking skills and your knowledge of the culture we offer you, a host family where you will have a single room with half board.

Activities and Excursions

The school organizes excursions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and the weekends. Cultural activities take place in the library 2-3 times per week and once a month there is a "cultural week" with special events.

  • Coffee tour to Café Britt coffee plantation

  • Jungle boat trip on the Sarapiquí River
  • Visit to the Tortuguero National Park

Our Opinion

This is the perfect place to relax and learn Spanish. All is close and accessible, whether it be the big city, the ocean, or the tropical forest. It has a little something for everyone.
